Iwate Swan 19: Christmas 2009

(Iwate Swan 19: Christmas 2009)

Enjoy the last episode of Iwate Swan this year! I will return in January after a lovely visit home to continue the series. It has been a fun ride thus far, and I am looking forward to more adventures in the new year. I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday season, and I wish all my viewers nothing but the best.

The long distance count down is now a mere 6 days. This time next week I will be with my girlfriend and I could not be happier. We've really made it darling :)

Hey Iwate Swan,
Had no idea you were in Hanamaki, I've been here myself for 11 years. When you get back from your great Christmas holiday, be great to meet you!
Merry Christmas and have a safe trip!

I still can't wrap my head around the fact that Rodger is no longer here... It's like his passing has left a big gaping hole in me. Just the other day I was chuckling as he was splurging on a traditional western-style meal at a Coco's Restaurant in Iwate. And this afternoon I was greeted with the tragic news from Kevin Cooney (TokyoCooney). It gave me pause to reflect on how close we all can -- and have -- become via YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Like an extended family transcending thousands of miles. Even after a full day of trying to make sense of it, I'm still in shock since it was so unexpected. It all seems so surreal. I will truly miss following Rodger's Nippon adventure. He was a sincerely nice guy with such positive energy. Rest In Peace

You will be very messed Rodger. Your videos gave me a glimpse into a world I've always dreamed of visiting and your passion for what you did was an inspiration. Rest in peace, I wish I could have known you.

I want to express my condolences to all of Rodger's family and friends. Rodger, you will be missed by the legions of fans who you welcomed into your life for ten minutes at a time. As so many others have said, I felt like I knew you because of your open and earnest personality. I hope you have found peace.

I want to express my condolences to Roger's family, but also his girlfriend. I left my boyfriend in the US to teach English in Japan for one year (I will see him again in August). I can't imagine how it would feel if something happened to one of us during our time apart. Roger really made me feel that a long distance relationship is possible. I am truly very sorry. :(

I miss you Rodger... I am so going to re-watch your previous videos over and over again. I do hope YouTube won't remove your videos permanently as I adore them since the very first episode of Tokyo Swan... :(

R.I.P Rodger...
